Tight Lines

A renovated, ground-level waterfront home with a 60-foot boat dock and a heated pool, five houses down the canal from open ocean.

A family home, rebuilt for guests

Tight Lines was the Landry family home for 25 years. After Hurricane Irma, Lynn and Freida rebuilt it from top to bottom and named it for Freida's love of fishing. It's a classic Keys conch home on one level, with no stairs between you and the water.

Each of the three bedrooms has a king bed and its own bathroom, and each sits in its own corner of the house, so three couples or a family get real privacy. The open kitchen, dining and living area is where everyone comes together, and a laundry room with a half bath sits just off the kitchen. Mornings are for coffee on the front porch at sunrise.

Made for boating and fishing

The 60-foot dock has whips to keep your boat off the pilings, plus a fillet table, a bait freezer and a gas grill. Guests have kept a 22-foot bay boat and a 27-foot offshore boat here. Tight Lines is the fifth house down the canal, and the canal runs straight out to open water.

  • Paddle or snorkel the flats right outside the canal.
  • Patch reefs a short run offshore for snorkeling, spearfishing and lobster.
  • Turn left out of the canal for a 10-minute run to Vaca Cut and the bay side.
  • Turn right for a 20-minute run to the Seven Mile Bridge.

One boat per rental can tie up at the dock. The approach to the canal is shallow, so if your boat drafts deep, ask us for the markers before you arrive.

The pool and patio

Out back, a 9×16 heated dipping pool sits beside the canal under a shade sail, with a bar-height table, Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs. Beach towels are provided, and the kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets are yours to use.
