Tight Lines

VACA-21-142

The renovated family conch home, ground level, steps from the canal.

This was the Landry family home for 25 years. After Hurricane Irma it was rebuilt top to bottom, and it's named for Freida's love of fishing. Each of the three bedrooms has a king bed and its own bath, tucked into a separate corner of the house, with a half bath for guests off the kitchen.

Out back you'll find a 9×16 heated dipping pool under a shade sail, a gas grill, a fillet table and a bait freezer. Kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets are ready when you are.

The new build, raised for the views, two doors closer to the ocean.

Built new in 2022, Sandy Flats sits three houses from open water with ocean views from nearly every room. The living room and open kitchen are made for a crowd, and the front balcony catches the sunrise. All three bedrooms have king beds and full en-suite baths, plus a half bath and a sofa bed.

Under the house is a shaded lounge with two daybeds and seating for six, next to a 10×20 heated pool. The dock has a lighted fish-cleaning station, a step-down for easy water access, a bait pen and a bait freezer.

Twelve people, six king suites, one canal.

Reunions, fishing groups and families travelling with friends can take both homes. They're two doors apart on the same street, so everyone gets a private suite and you can still share the pool, the docks and dinner.

Your hosts

Lynn & Freida Landry

We've lived in Marathon for decades and raised our children, Kaite and Seth, on this canal. We dive, we fish, and we live right next door, so if you need anything, or want to know which reef is fishing well, just ask.

  2. 2017Hurricane Irma. We rebuilt it from the studs up.
  3. 2021Opened Tight Lines to guests.

Questions

Before you book

Can we rent both houses together?

Yes. Together they sleep twelve in six king suites, and they're two doors apart on the same street. Ask for both weeks in one message and we'll line them up.

What's the minimum stay?

Seven nights, required by City of Marathon ordinance. January to mid-August is Sunday to Sunday unless we approve otherwise. Mid-August to mid-December, any seven-night window works.

Can I bring my boat?

Yes, one boat per rental. Each 60-foot dock has whips to keep your boat off the pilings. The approach to the canal is shallow, so ask us for the marker line if your boat drafts deep.

When are check-in and check-out?

Tight Lines: in after 4 pm, out by 10 am. Sandy Flats: in after 3 pm, out by 9 am.

Do you allow pets?

No, neither house is pet friendly, and both are non-smoking.

How do I reach you?

Call or text Lynn at 305-731-4161, email sandyflatsllc@gmail.com, or send your dates with the inquiry form at the bottom of this page.

Is there a hospital nearby?

Yes. Marathon's new hospital is about five minutes from the houses.

Request your week.

Fill in the form and Lynn and Freida will reply within a day with availability and a quote. No booking fees, and nothing is charged until you confirm.
